Glider Designs

DESIGN PHASE

1) whats the challenge?

To design a glider.

2) brainstorm your solutions

IDEAS: a lot of surface area of wings, biplane design, vertical tail wing.

3) Constaints-

Had to use the supplied paper and balsa wood, can use tape or glue to hold together.

TEST PHASE

DESIRABLE OUTCOMES:

  • The glider has very good lift

  • The glider is very light

OUTCOMES TO CHANGE:

  • Slightly pulls to the right

  • Pulls up then stalls if not thrown hard

QUESTIONS RAISED:

  • How to fix the pull to the right

  • How to make it go faster

IDEAS GENERATED:

  • Add more wieght to keep from pulling up

  • Put a stabalizing wing to keep from drifting right

  1. Good job breaking out your 4 quadrant feedback and drawing actionable conclusions from it.

Good job as well recognizing that the available materials are key constraints on the design.

Did you generate any sketches before you built your design?

Nice job getting a CAD model together. Try making an assembly out of multiple parts. This is essential for more complex projects!
